RWE AG completed its $6.8 billion acquisition of Con Edison's clean energy businesses in March 2023. The deal, which involves the acquisition of Con Edison Clean Energy Businesses, added 3 GW of operating solar and wind projects and a 7 GW development pipeline, making RWE the fourth-largest renewable energy company in the U.S.
EQT Active Core Infrastructure Fund and and the Public Sector Pension Investment Board completed its $3.0 billion take-private acquisition of Radius Global Infrastructure in March 2024. Radius owns critical telecommunications infrastructure including renewable energy land leases.
Macquarie Asset Management acquired DE Shaw Renewable Investments (DESRI) in 2024 in a transaction valued at approximately $1.7 billion. DESRI manages a 6 GW portfolio of operating solar, wind, and storage projects across the U.S.
Ormat Technologies acquired geothermal and solar assets from Enel Green Power North America for $271 million in January 2024. The portfolio includes assets in Nevada, Utah, Connecticut, and California.
Altus Power acquired Vitol's distributed solar portfolio in the U.S. Northeast for $118 million in January 2024. The portfolio includes thousands of long-term solar customers served by rooftop, ground, and carport arrays.
Energy Capital Partners completed its take-private acquisition of Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure for $2.55 billion in December 2024. Atlantica owns and operates a 2.2 GW renewable energy and infrastructure portfolio across the Americas, EMEA, and South Africa.
Cameco partnered with Brookfield Renewable to acquire Westinghouse Electric in November 2023. Cameco's 49% interest cost approximately $2.2 billion, with Brookfield holding 51%. The deal positions both companies in the nuclear renaissance.
BlackRock (NYSE: BLK) completed its $12.5 billion acquisition of Global Infrastructure Partners in October 2024. GIP is the largest independent infrastructure manager by assets under management globally, with over $100 billion in AUM across infrastructure equity and credit strategies supported by approximately 400 employees.
Quantum Capital Group acquired Cogentrix Energy from Carlyle for approximately $3.0 billion. Cogentrix operates 5.3 GW of natural gas-fired power generation across the U.S.
Ares Management Corporation (NYSE: ARES) said that a fund managed by the Ares Infrastructure Opportunities strategy acquired a 49% stake in a portfolio of assets from EDP Renováveis, S.A., a developer, owner and operator of renewable energy infrastructure.
